Just last week, my husband and I were in Chicago visiting some friends of ours. We made sure to go to all of the most popular tourist spots. One of my favorite places we went was Navy Pier. The pier is right on the lake and every Saturday at nine pm they have a firework show. We ended up bringing a blanket and take-out, sitting on a piece of grass right by the lake and watching the fireworks. After the show we walked along the pier and went into all the shops. When they closed down at eleven pm we walked out to the street and tried to hail a taxi. It was then we realized all the limos we had seen earlier didn’t have any celebrities in them, they were being used as a taxi service.
The Chicago limo rental companies were charging ten dollars a person to ride in the limo to their destination, whether it was a bar, their house or car parked somewhere in the city. I had no idea people actually rode around in limos on a regular basis just so they could get to and from places. I always thought people got a Chicago limo rental for special events, but I was wrong. Maybe next time we’re in the city I’ll convince my husband to use the limo as a taxi service so I too can ride in one for no special occasion.
